Harold Sawyer, 92, of Springfield, formerly of Independence, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, in Cox Health South Hospital, Springfield.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, on Monday, Sept 23, 2013, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055, with inurnment at a later date in Mount Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 on Sunday, Sept 22, 2013, at the funeral home.
Harold was born on October 5, 1920 at Sheldon, the son of J.K. and Josephine (Welker) Sawyer. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Independence. He was a United States Marine veteran serving many years for his country.
Harold had been employed at Kansas City Southern Railroad until is retirement in October of 1980. He is survived by one daughter, Geraldine Estes and husband Cliff Brookline, MO; one grandson, Darin Weathermon, Battlefield, MO; and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by, his parents, and his wife, Della Sawyer.
