Mary Ellen Sayers (Schwartz)

Mary Ellen Sayers, 66 of Buckner, MO passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016 at her residence surrounded by friends and family. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 3, 2016 at St. John LaLande Catholic Church 805 NW R D Mize Rd, Blue Springs, MO 64015 with cremation to follow. A graveside inurnment will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2016 at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening, March 2, 2016 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Mary was born May 28, 1949 in Warrenton, MO to Lawrence and Mary (Weyerich) Schwartz. She spent her early life in Warrenton graduating from Warrenton High School in 1969. She enjoyed many years serving the children and staff and working with the ladies in the cafeteria at Osage Trails Middle School until she retired in 2014. She had many hobbies including gardening but this did not compare to the love and acceptance she gave every day to her grandchildren and children alike. She was a member of the St. John LaLande Catholic Church, the Raytown and Independence Garden Clubs and the Chi Omega sorority. Survivors include; her husband, James of the home; 3 daughters, Kimberly Bartosch and husband Jason of Lee’s Summit, MO and Kelly Sayers and Kristina Sayers both of Buckner, MO; 3 sisters, Margie Goddard of Washington, MO, Janice Schwartz of Lacrosse, WI and Rose Schwartz of Hannibal, MO and 5 grandchildren, Sebastian, Christian, Alexis, Perrin and Drake. She was loved by many and will be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents.
