Faye Schlie, 96, of Independence, MO passed away December 19, 2017. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Wednesday, December 27 at Car-Speaks Chapel. Funeral service will be 10am Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the chapel. Burial will take place in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Faye was born on November 4, 1921 in Greenwood, MO to Frank and Emma (Willsey) Smith. She was a graduate of William Chrisman High School. She was a home maker who spent a short period as a mail carrier with the USPS. Faye enjoyed painting, ceramics and all types of sewing including embroidery, quilting and cross stitching. She also enjoyed reading, bowling, fishing and playing cards. She was a member of the Neighborhood Ladies Hilltop Club for over 65 years. Faye loved her weekends at the lake cabin in Karr’s Park, fishing for crappie and spending time with her grandchildren and all of her lake family. Survivors include; daughter Cathy Kilian; granddaughter Julie Page and her fiancé Barry Higgins; grandson Gary Schlie; great grandchildren Dalton Schlie and Amanda Page; sister Brenda Kiley and her husband Mike; a large extended family and many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Harley Schlie in 1980, son Mike Schlie in 2008, sisters Virginia Evans and Carolyn Novatkoski, and brothers John Smith and Stanley Smith.
