Gilbert Paul "Gib", Sr. Schmidt

Gilbert Paul "Gib� Schmidt, 73, Independence, Mo. died Nov. 2, 2004, at Independence Regional Health Center. Services will be 2 pm, Friday at Carson-Speaks Midtown Chapel; cremation. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Assoc. Gib was born Nov. 23, 1930 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He enjoyed farming, working with machinery and loved his family. He worked for twenty years at Guy�s Foods warehouse in Liberty where he was know to his co-workers as "Dependable Gib�. He was a member of the Community of Christ College Park Congregation and had served as a Priest for the church. Gib was preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Ruth Schmidt, and stepson Ted Nordli. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Eilene Emogene Schmidt, of the home; son Gilbert Loren Schmidt, Jr.; daughter April Marie Moore and husband Gary; son David Paul Schmidt and wife Jeanie; all of Indep., Mo; step-daughters Susan Simpson, Arlington, TX; Irene Gall, Indep., Mo.; brother Wally Schmidt and wife Joyce, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; sister Hazel Mitchener and husband Cecil, Saskatchewan; grandchildren Joshua & Jeremy Schmidt, Nathan Moore, Andrea Johnson, Travis Simpson, Shaunna Foulks, Dawn Butler; and seven great-grandchildren.
