HELEN S. SCHOWENGERDT
Helen Schowengerdt, 84, of Independence, MO passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016. A visitation will be held from 9-10am on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church 3736 S. Lees Summit Rd, Independence, MO, 64055. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10am at the church.
Helen was born on April 7, 1932 in Independence, MO to Joseph and Katherine Shaffer. She attended St. Mary’s High School, then a year at UMKC and was an active member at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing piano and had a love for animals but her biggest enjoyment in life was her family, especially being with her husband Kenneth. Helen was a proud mom to 2 sons and a grandmother.
She will be remembered by her husband Kenneth of 60 years; sons Dr. Kenneth Schowengerdt and wife Dr. Joyce Koenig of St. Louis, MO, and Karl Schowengerdt of Independence, MO; granddaughter Mia Schowengerdt; and several nieces and nephews.
