Garry Schwab, 68, of Independence, MO passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. A visitation will be held from 1-2pm on Monday, February 26, 2018 at First Baptist Blue Springs 4500 Little Blue Pkwy, Independence, MO, 64057. A service will follow at 2pm at the church.
Garry was born on September 13, 1949 in Clinton, IA to Everett and Marylois (Brown) Schwab. His family moved to Lawson, MO where he grew up and graduated from high school. After high school, he proudly served in the United States Army. In 1969, Garry was introduced to Linda Shook. On October 16, 1971 he gave her his last name. Together they raised 3 children and shared over 46 years of memories together. In his spare time, he enjoyed wood working, camping, hunting and fishing. Most of all, he absolutely adored his grandchildren.
Garry will be missed and remembered by his wife Linda Schwab of the home; daughters Debbie Prawl and husband Lynn of Independence, MO, Michelle Schwab of Independence, MO; son Garry Schwab II and wife Aimee of Olathe, KS; his siblings Dennis Schwab and wife Phyllis, Rick Schwab and wife Shirley, Sharyl Stears and husband Dan, Kevin Schwab, Connie McKee and husband Mark; half-sister Donna Owens and husband Mike; grandchildren Jessica Gerry (David), Amber Howery, Aylisa Smith, Christopher Schwab, Sophia Schwab, and Stella Schwab; great-grandchildren Kendall Gerry, Jaxson Howery, Reagan Gerry, Vinny Smith, and Zoe Gerry; plus several nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Nick Schwab in October 2017.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or Northcare Hospice.
