Virginia Lee (Teter) Schwarz, 90, passed away on January 6, 2016. A memorial service will be at 1:00pm Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Indep., MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the DAV or Shriner’s Childrens Hospital.
Virginia was born March 8, 1925, in Kansas City, MO, to Frank Melvin Teter and Isabelle Clements Teter. She grew up in Independence, and graduated from William Chrisman in the class of 1943. She worked for Sears-Roebuck and A.J. Bundschu’s Department Store, and it was there where she met William “Bill” Schwarz. They married in 1947 - to this union were born three children. Virginia later joined the family business as an accountant for Red Barn Hardware Store, and retired after 22 years. She was a charter member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a very talented painter, and loved to read and listen to music. She was a kind, humble person, who instilled a strong Christian faith in her children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, in 2006; and her siblings: Louise “Weez” Kroesen, Gladys Jean “Tookie” Fillinger, and Lauren “Sonny” Teter. She is survived by her three children: Douglas Schwarz, Terri Morgan (Steve), and Carla Frasier (Dale); and three grandchildren: Katie Cofer-Cascio (Mychal), Matt Cofer, and Anna Cofer.
