Roger was born April 21, 1941 in Wathena, KS as one of two sons to Kenneth and Hazel (Weber) Schwope. He was raised on the farm, participated in FFA as a youth, and graduated from Highland High School. Roger proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1960 until he retired from the reserves in 1984. He was designated in Naval Air Force as flight engineer and achieved the rank of Senior Chief. Roger was a man of astounding work ethic. While working in sales for Aero Drapery Co., he also co-owned Schwope Bro’s Tree Farm with his brother, Richard, owned a John Deere Dealership, and eventually owned Ashton Enterprise. When he was not hard at work he enjoyed hiking, biking, and the great outdoors; especially at his home in Colorado. In 1993 he invited Jesus into his life and a new chapter began. He became a faithful servant to the church body and its needs, through working in Children’s Ministry, Life Group Leader, and many behind the scene projects. His family remembers him as loving, faithful, and courageous. Survivors include wife of 14 years, Deanna Schwope; sons, Tyler Schwope (Lori); daughter, Corri Hoy (Robert); grandchildren, Sally Hootman, Suzy Brooks, Christopher Bolten, and Timothy Schwope; great grandchildren, Seth Hootman, Clair Marker, Mihaly Marker, Audrey Hootman, and Elijah Schwope; brother Richard Schwope (Brenda) and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly as well as his beloved Baily Boy.
