Monte Dean Scott

July 30, 1956 — December 18, 2022

Monte Dean Scott, 66, of Independence, Missouri passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 18, 2022 after a long battle with health issues. Monte was born to Billy and Mary Scott on July 30, 1956 in Warsaw, Missouri.
Monte grew up in Independence, Missouri and graduated from the Missouri School of the Deaf in Fulton, Mo. Despite being hearing impaired, Monte never let that set him back. He was a talented woodworker, could fix any small engine and was passionate about motorcycles. Monte also enjoyed deer hunting. As his health declined and he was unable to hunt on his own he encouraged others to share their stories with him so that he could live vicariously thru them. Monte was an animal lover and always had a dog by his side. He was able to train them on his own and it helped to keep his mind at ease. He was a vibrant spirit and will be missed dearly.
Monte is survived by his parents, Billy Scott (Shirley) and Mary Hawkins; sisters, Marilyn Ball (Jim), Anita Franklin (Gary), Sheryl Spease (Chris Divine); step sister, Meghan Close and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents and step father, Ronald Hawkins.
A visitation will be held from 9-11am at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Mo. on Wednesday, December 28. Burial will immediately follow at Fristoe Cemetery in Fristoe, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Missouri School for the Deaf, 505 E 5th St, Fulton, MO 65251 in memory of Monte.
