Wayne H. Sedge, 88, Arlington, TX, formerly of Independence, MO, passed away Nov. 1, 2018 in Arlington. Services will be 2 pm, Monday, Nov. 12 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO; interment at Blue Springs Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 pm before the service at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Salvation Army, 14700 E. Truman Rd, Independence, MO 64050.
Wayne was born May 24, 1930 in Oak Grove, MO and graduated from William Chrisman High School in the Class of 1947. Immediately after graduation he began a career at Sears until he was drafted for the Korean War. After serving in the U.S. Army he returned to Sears to resume a career which spanned forty-one years until his retirement in 1988. He was a very good baseball player who had played semi-pro ball, an accomplished golfer and an excellent fisherman who was a guest many times on “The Sportsman’s Friend with Harold Ensley” TV show.
Wayne is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years Donna Sedge, of the home; daughters Fran Marencik and husband Gary Drummond, Independence, MO; Linda Fann and husband Ken; Susan Brand, all of Blue Springs, MO; son Duane Sedge, Arlington, TX; grandchildren Heather Varner and husband Matt, Stephanie Watson and husband Matthew, Erika Brand, Anna Freeman and husband Tyler and five great-grandchildren.
