Donald Seiwald, 89, of Independence, MO passed away November 16, 2017. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. A rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m. the night of the visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 20, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, with a graveside service to be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday at Holy Family Cemetery in Eudora, KS. Contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice or St. Mark’s Catholic Church. Donald was born July 27, 1928 in Lawrence, KS to Berthold and Martha (Schehrer) Seiwald. He was a graduate of the University of Kansas and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. Donald was a Mining Engineer with Missouri Portland Cement Co., and then spent 11 years with Jack Cooper’s Transport, until his retirement in 1990. Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and traveling with his wife, Barbara. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Seiwald; two daughters, Sharon Jenkins and Rosemary Seiwald; two sons, Michael and James (Judy) Seiwald; two brothers, Delbert and Paul Seiwald; sister, Mary Martha Hennessey; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
