August 21, 1926 — April 26, 2007

Emil J. "Bud� Severyn, 80 of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, April 26, 2007 at the Rehabilitation Center of Independence. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday April 30, 2007 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday evening at the chapel. Burial with full military honors will be in Buckner Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Kansas City Hospice. Bud was born August 21, 1926 in Schuyler, NE to Emil and Augusta (Juran) Severyn. He was a World War II Army veteran who had served in the Philippine Islands and in the occupational forces in Japan. In 1947 he met and married Yvonne Martens of Persia, IA. He became a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1953 and served as a pastor in Council Bluffs, IA, El Paso, TX and Decatur, NE. He also served as district president of the Woodbine Iowa District. In 1980 he and Yvonne moved to Independence, MO. There he served as pastor at the Enoch Hill Congregation and the Hill Comarah Restoration Branch and also a member of the Center Stake High Council. He retired in 1991 from Fort Osage School District as a day custodian at the high school. He enjoyed camping and they volunteered as camp hosts for the Missouri State Park system. His is survived by his wife Yvonne; two sons, Rod Severyn and his wife Janette of Shell Knob, MO and Russ Severyn of Concrete, WA; two daughters, Diana and husband Jack Hinze of Patagonia, AZ and Joni Jones of Kearney, MO. Eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by, his parents, sister Frances and daughter-in-law Charlene.
