Douglas Lee Shackelford

Douglas Lee Shackelford, 50, of Merriam, KS, passed away while vacationing with his wife in Sydney, Australia on October 13, 2005. He is loved so very much by his wife, Lottie Chestnut; sons, Scott and James Shackelford; mother and father, Marge and Herb Shackelford; sister, Margie Hill; and brother, Jeff. Doug joins his son, Donnie; brother, Steven; sister, Janet; and favorite granny, Irene, in Heaven. Doug shared with us the meaning of love, trust and perseverance; and, how to live boldly, seek truth and constantly grow. A passionate and unforgettable life force with a love for foreign cultures, Doug has traveled to Bangkok, Xian, Cabo, London, and Tahiti to, name a few. His journey continues, and he will live on in spirit and loving memory. Deep gratitude to Doug's Burns & Mac Engineering family who worked tirelessly for both Doug and his wife's safe return from Australia. Services will be at Carson- Speaks Chapel, 1501 West Lexington, Independence, MO 64052 816-252-7900, on Sunday, October 23, at 2 PM. A visitation will follow the service. At the family�s request, informal attire with happy colors in honor of Doug's wishes.
