Miriam Jean (Faler) Shahan, 77, Independence, Mo. died Feb. 12, 2004, at Independence Regional Hospital. Funeral Mass will be 10 am, Wed. Feb. 18, at St. Cyril�s Catholic Church of Sugar Creek. Interment will be 1:30, Wed., at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 - 8 pm, Tuesday, where the Rosary will be said at 7:30 pm, at Speaks Midtown Chapel.Jean was born Aug. 21, 1926, in Oak Park IL. to Leon D. and Maurrine E. (Hodge) Faler. She was a school secretary at St. Ann�s School for 12 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of St. Ann�s Church for 43 years and a member of the Board for the Northwest Community Development Corp. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Randolph Shahan. She is survived by daughter, Stephanie Eads, and companion, Butch Morrow, Independence, Mo; son, Kent Shahan, and wife, Sandra, Lone Jack, Mo; daughter, Jennifer Wittmers and husband, Frank, Nixa, Mo; sisters, Shirley E. Perryman, Dayton, OH; Susan Douglas, and husband, David, Albuquerque, NM; aunt, Dorothy Faler, Overland Park, Ks; grandchildren Jeannie (Bonnie) Eads, Randy (Harold) Eads, (Darlene) Dolly Bates, Annette Morrow, Micaiah Shahan, Dalton Shahan, Andrew Wittmers, Anastasia Wittmers; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
