Carl L. Shakespeare, 83, of Independence, MO passed away. He was born March 15, 1936 in Hemple, MO, the first of two sons to Alma Vern Shakespeare and Marjorie (Snively); and brother to Vernon Dean (Jacky) Shakespeare. Carl graduated Lamoni High School in 1954. After High School, he attended Graceland College, where he graduated in 1956, with his degree. While attending Graceland, he met Jacqueline Joy Spence, who became his wife on September 15, 1956. On November 13, 1957, Carl and Jacky welcomed their first born, a son Bryon Lee Shakespeare. Byron is married to “BJ” (Thomas) Shakespeare. On December 8, 1961, they welcomed their second child, a daughter Bobbi Ann Shakespeare. Bobbi is married to Mark Govro. In 1963, the family moved to Independence, MO where Carl and Jacky resided for the remainder of their lives. In 1989, Carl retired as the Manager of the Engineering Department from AT&T, where he had been employed for 33 years. He was a faithful member of the RLDS faith. Other than his children, Carl is survived by his grandchildren, whom he adored; Amanda Lemcke (Mark), Shawna Shakespeare, Brandon Shakespeare (Kaitlin), Haley Barteau (Tom), Jamie Baker (Raymond), Cody Valle (Jasmine), Wyatt Valle, Daniel Govro (Kayla) and Lauren Govro; and his great grandchildren, Alice, Lucy, Marissa, Dayton, Carter, Lillian, Johnathan, Cheyenne, Madison, Dylan and Zoe.
