Sharon Louise (Sullivan) Nichelson, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, departed this world on August 31, 2024, in her hometown of Kansas City, Kansas. Born on July 29, 1948, Sharon brought joy and a spunky personality to everyone she encountered. Her vibrant spirit made a lasting impact on so many lives.
She dedicated over 30 years of her life to her career as a mortgage broker, demonstrating her exceptional skills and commitment to helping others achieve their dreams of homeownership. In 2010, she transitioned to an administrative role, where she continued to lend her expertise and support until her well-deserved retirement.
Sharon was a proud graduate of Turner High School in Turner, Kansas, where she made lifetime friends she still kept in touch with. Her interests were diverse; she had a passion for reading and found solace in traveling, preferring to spend her sun-soaked days at the beach. Sharon enjoyed the thrill of visiting the casino and indulging her sweet tooth.
An unwavering fan of sports, she cheered on the KU Jayhawks basketball team and the Nebraska Huskers football team with great enthusiasm, embodying the spirit of a true sports lover. Sharon also had a deep affection for music and took great pride in her well-tended yard and flower garden.
Sharon leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory in their hearts. She is survived by her daughter, Stacy (Troy) Richter; step daughter, Michelle (Anthoney) Mitchell; grandchildren, Jason (Danielle), Jennifer (Seth), Keely, Chase (Kristin), Carly, Grant, Cori, Ashlyn, Nic; great-grandchildren, Tycie and Lily; sister, Donna (Jerry) Gambrill; as well as extended family, and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Nichelson; daughter, Teresa Parker; her parents, Harry Sullivan and Juanita Luce; and brother, Wayne Sullivan. Sharon's legacy of love and laughter will continue to resonate within all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on September 6, 2024, at Carson-Speaks Chapel in Independence, Missouri, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, offering family and friends the opportunity to honor and celebrate the beautiful life of Sharon Louise Nichelson. As we gather to remember her, we will reflect on the joys, laughter, and love that she generously shared with all of us. Sharon will forever hold a special place in our hearts, guiding us with her spirit as we continue on our paths, cherishing the memories we made together.
