David Gordon Sharpe

David Gordon Sharpe, 83, of Grain Valley, MO, passed away April 12, 2019. A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 17th from 10:30-11:00am with a funeral mass following at 11:00am at St. John La Lande Catholic Church, 805 NW R.D. Mize Rd., Blue Springs, MO 64015. David was born on December 3, 1935 to Herbert and Alberta Sharpe in Kansas City, MO. He attended Paseo and Central High Schools before joining the U.S. Navy and proudly serving his country for almost 4 years. In November of 1959, he married his love, Maxine Herner at St. James Catholic Church in Kansas City, MO. David spent his career in computer technology and retired as a field engineer at IBM after 32 years. He enjoyed tinkering with all things tech, could fix anything before it was even broken and would take in an occasional round of golf. What he enjoyed most, however, was his time with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Maxine, his children, Steven (Sue) Sharpe of Overland Park, KS, Diana (Bob) Harris of Independence, Michael Sharpe of Baghdad, Iraq, Julie (Kevin) Robins of Kansas City, MO, and Susan (Steven) Miller of Blue Springs; 13 grandchildren, as well as, 14 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his four siblings. Contributions may be made in David’s honor to The Sisters Servants of Mary or Little Sisters of the Poor.
