David Sheehy, 86 died in Independence on 19 June 2006. Services will be 10:00 am, Fri. Jun. 23, 2006 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. Indep. MO. Burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 - 8:30 pm, Thursday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be directed to the Blue Springs Assembly of God Church Building Fund, 901 NW 19th St., Blue Springs, MO. David was born on June 17th, 1920 in Swansea, MA. He was the son of John and Elizabeth (Baldwin) Sheehy. They moved to Missouri in 1922. He graduated from William Chrisman High School and attended Graceland College, the University of Kansas and did post graduate work at Youngstown University. His degree was in Marketing. He was a merchandise manager at J.C. Penny and Sears Roebuck Co; prior to moving back to Independence in 1954. With his wife Ruth, he was owner of Sheehy Realty and Investment Company and Sheehy Income Tax Service. He was a past vice president of the Eastern Jackson County Board of Realtors, a Director of the Missouri Real Estate Association and was a charter member of the Independence M.L.S. He was past president of the Graceland College Alumni Association, a former member of the Kiwanis Club, Charter member of Sunrise Optimist Club and served on the Board of Directors of Bingham Waggoner Historical Society. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the USS Lizardfish in the S.W. Pacific, Sea of Japan and Indian Ocean. David was very active in his church, holding numerous leadership positions. He is a member of the Blue Springs Assembly and Ft. Myers 1st Assembly. For the past twenty years, Ft. Myers, FL has been their second home. David was preceded in death by his brothers, Almer and Howard Sheehy and his sister Vera Becker. He is survived by his loving wife Ruth. Daughters, Christi Zerr, Nan and Michael Ingham, along with special daughter Deborah Ingham and husband, Jim. Grandchildren, Jonathan and Kris Zerr, Amy Zerr and Ethan Zerr. Great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Jillian Zerr. one sister, Margery Boon and numerous nieces and nephews.
