Harry Ray Shelton Sr.

Harry Shelton, 81, of Independence, MO passed away March 27, 2020. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at New Hope Community of Christ Church, 220 W. Moore Street, Independence, MO 64050. Harry was born March 1, 1939 in Louisville, KY to Charles and Nellie (Kreutzer) Shelton. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Armor Division. Harry worked for Ford Claycomo Plant for 30 years. He was an Elder in the Community of Christ Church, and attended New Hope Congregation. He was preceded in death by his parents; step brother, Alvin Shanks; and sister, Nancy Thornbury. Harry is survived by his loving wife, Tiona Shelton; son, Harry R. Shelton, Jr. (Shannon); daughter, Lehua Shelton Canning (D. Scott); brother, Walter Shelton; seven grandchildren, Aleksandr Shelton, Jacob Shelton, Malia Shelton, Harrison Shelton, Isaiah Shelton, Kailani Canning and Kaleo Canning; and many nieces and nephews.
