Irene Louise Shelton, 87, Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Friday, January 25, 2013. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Monday, January 28, 2013 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association. Irene was born October 17, 1925 in Waverly, MO the daughter of Walter and Louise (Reynolds) Hollis. She retired from American Oil Company, Sugar Creek Refinery. Irene enjoyed crocheting, reading, and playing the organ.
Survivors include her daughters, Catherine Staggs and husband Phil, Barbara Kuzma and husband Larry; grandchildren, Chad, Brad, Justin and Jeremy Staggs, Lori and Brian Kuzma; three great grandchildren; sister, Charlotte Zumalt; and numerous nieces, nephews, and family. Irene was preceded in death by her first husband, Glenn Smith in 1965; second husband, James Shelton in 1981; and sister, Elizabeth Weedin.
