Kenneth Maxwell Sherman, 94, of Independence, MO, passed away, Sunday, September 18, 2005 at Rosewood Health Center. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m., until service time Wednesday at the chapel. Kenneth was born May 5, 1911 in Independence, Mo to Plinnie A. and Lenna Maude (Gould) Sherman. He was a lifelong resident of Independence. He had worked for the Wyandotte Furniture Company as a furniture refinisher. He then went to work for the Independence School District as a janitor and worked his way up until he retired as supervisor over all of the buildings and grounds for the school district. Kenneth was a very active and devout member of the Gudgell Park congregation of the Community of Christ Church where he served as an elder. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed his trips fishing in Minnesota. He was married to Alpha Ruth (Martin) on June 30, 1937, she survives of the home. Other survivors include, 3 daughters, Joan Wallace of Kingsville, MO, Barbara Shupe of Independence, MO and Pat Chadwick of Odessa, MO; 2 brothers, Everett Sherman and Bob Sherman both of Independence, MO; 13 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Kenneth was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed his family and his work in the church.
