Born January 27, 1935, Lillian Lois Elrod Shikles passed away at 5:30am on Sunday May 7, 2006 at North Kansas City Hospital. Lois was a faithful servant and beloved handmaiden of God. Through her many trials she continually turned to the Lord and had many unforgettable experiences in her walk with Jesus Christ. She attended Eden Heights Community of Christ Congregation in Independence, MO for many years. Lois maintained her grace, beauty and refinement well into the end of her life. The desire she possessed to serve others came through her passion for cooking. She was a mother to all who knew her and her spirit will live on in those she touched. Especially her grandchildren who only refer to her as Mama Lois, for she always said she was much to young to be called Grandma. She was preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Marie Elrod, by her brother Jimmy Elrod and her two sisters Billy Jean and Mary Francis. Lois is survived by her three children, Terry Sanders, Tamara Noble, Curt Longhenry, her seven grandchildren Heather Sanders, Samantha Sanders, Cynthia Shively, David Noble, Crystal Longhenry, Ryan Longhenry, Shabree Longhenry, and two great grandchildren Joscelynne Shively, Sharaya Treat. She is also survived by her four younger brothers and their spouses Bobby Elrod, David Elrod, Franklin Elrod, Gary Elrod. She also has many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews that were loved as her own children. All memorial events will be held at Eden Heights Community of Christ, East Sea Avenue and Saville Street, Independence, Mo. 64050. Visitation will be held Wednesday May 10 from 6-8pm. The funeral services will be held Thursday May 11 beginning at 11am with another visitation preceding at 10am.
