Viola Shikles

Viola Shikles, 85, of Independence, MO, passed away, Saturday, December 20, 2003 at Independence Regional Health Center. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 26, 2003 at Speaks Midtown Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to service time Saturday at the chapel. Viola was born August 18, 1918 in Lamoni, Iowa to John Henry and Violet May (Larabee) Thomas. She spent most of her life in Independence graduating from William Chrisman High School. She was a homemaker and member of the Heart of American Carnival Glass Club and the Knife and Fork Club. She was also a member of the Eden Heights Community of Christ Church. She was married to Davis W. Shikles, he died in 1995. Survivors include; 2 sons, Davis L. Shikles of Independence, MO, Don L. Shikles of Kansas City, KS and Richard C. Shikles of Clinton, MO; 2 brothers, Lloyd Thomas of Los Angeles, CA and Bill Thomas of Chesapeake, VR.; 3 sisters, Alice Debarth of Mary Lilian Hinton and Alberta Hitch all of Independence, MO; 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
