Daniel Lee Shirk, a man who loved to serve his Lord, was called home on Friday, September 24, 2021 with his family by his side. He was 90 years old. Daniel was born to Ralph and Eva Shirk in Kansas City, Missouri on February 12, 1931.
Daniel was a hard worker and at the age of 20 he started a career with the Kansas City Star and a year later enlisted into the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country for 8 years during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged in 1959 Daniel began his career with the school district. He worked as an operations engineer for many years before retiring. At the age of 50 Daniel asked Jesus to come into his heart. He was a strong Christian man of faith and lived out his days as a prayer warrior for everyone around him. Daniel earned the nickname of the “preacher” because sharing his love of the lord was his ministry. Daniel loved to write. If he saw a blank page it was an opportunity to express his love and words of encouragement. Daniel would carefully prepare cards, writing unique and thoughtful letters for all his loved ones to commemorate every holiday or occasion. He loved to give. He would donate his time and money to all of those in need and enjoyed making bibs for his friends at the care center. Daniel was a devout follower of Jesus and a great example to all who knew him. He never missed an opportunity to witness and share his testimony. He was truly loved and will be greatly missed. His legacy of unconditional love and faith will live forever.
Daniel is survived by his daughters, Carolyn Hurlbert (Larry), Donna Marquez (Ramon); sisters, Betty Still and Barbara Burch; brother, Charles Shirk (Sharon); many step children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roger Shirk and his beloved wives, Linda (Gallamore) Shirk, Nellie (Hoban) Shirk and Ruby (Stark) Shirk.
