Edward "Larry" Shirley

Edward “Larry” Shirley, 74, of Blue Springs, MO, died Monday, July 15th at 4:30 am, at St Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza, ending his 9 month battle with stage 4 esophageal cancer. He was born, April 18, 1945 in Columbia, SC to Ralph and Louise Shirley.
E.L. or Larry Shirley was a master barbecuer, participating in the Kansas City American Royal and other barbecue competitions around Missouri.
Larry loved sitting on his deck, drinking beer and visiting with his neighbors. Larry was a passionate fan of Clemson Tigers football, having attended Clemson University.
Larry was a wonderful father, grandfather, husband and friend. He will be missed by so many, including his son, Shannon Morris; daughter, Leslie England and husband Russ; granddaughter, Savannah Louise England; and grandson, Justin Michael McNew. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Martha Shirley.
