James C. Shissler, 87, of Belton, MO passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, January 26th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A procession will follow for a graveside service at 12:30 am at Leavenworth National Cemetery, KS.
James was born April 17, 1927 in Sunbury, PA as one of eight children to James H. and Edna F. (Reigle) Shissler. He enlisted in the Air Force where he proudly served his country from 1946 until 1968. He married Ruth Eleanor (Neidig) on December 23, 1947 and together they raised six children, moving every few months as an Air Force family. He graduated with multiple Bachelor’s Degrees as well as a Master’s Degree in Meteorology from Penn State.
He is survived by daughters, Judith McLaughlin (Craig Pierce) of Los Cruces, NM; Nancy Taylor (James) of Raymore, MO; Ruth Burri (Ron) of Pleasant Hill, MO; and Theresa Murrell (“D”) of Jefferson City, MO; son, James F. Shissler of Kansas City, MO; brothers, Daniel, Johnathan, and Dr. Edward Shissler; and sister, Rebecca Minnier. He was preceded in death by brothers, William and LeRoy Shissler; sister, Dorothy Weaver; his parents; and and grandchildren, Keri Taylor, Michael Burri, and Jeremiah Shissler.
