Betty Shockey, 85, of Independence, MO passed away November 18, 2018. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. service on Monday, November 26, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Entombment will be at the Mound Grove Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Caris Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association. Betty was born June 25, 1933 in Lineville, Iowa to Homer L. and Mildred C. (Bright) Casey. She was a member of the Independence Young Matrons. Betty was a gifted pianist, excellent cook, and most importantly was a devoted wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her parents. Betty is survived by her husband of 65 years, Frank Shockey; two sons, Steven (Denise) Shockey and Douglas (Karen) Shockey; one daughter, Mendy Gregor; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
