Vera Lavon Short

Vera LaVon Short, 85 of Independence, passed away Sat. June 28, 2003 at the Independence Regional Health Center. Services will be 1:00 pm, Wed. July 2, 2003 at the George C. Carson & Sons Funeral Home. Burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 - 8:30 pm, Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Short was born on Dec. 9, 1917 to William and Grace Gold in Goreville, IL and had lived in this area most of her life. She was a homemaker and loved playing Bridge with the Chatter Box Club. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church. Mrs. Short is survived by her husband of 65 years, Vaughn Short and a son, Steve Short, both of Kansas City, MO. Three grandchildren and 2 great grandsons.
