Vernon “Mack” Short, 61 of Independence, MO passed away Thu. Jun. 7, 2007 at Monterey Park Nursing Center. Services will be 1:30 pm, Mon. Jun 11, 2007 at the Carson- Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Indep. MO. Burial in Mt. Washington Forever Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 �" 8:30 pm Sunday at the chapel. Contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Mack was born on Oct 9, 1945 to Elmer and Lois (Caruthers) Short in Manila, AR and has lived in the Independence area since 1952. He had been a painter for A & H Painting, retiring in 1990. Mack was a loving father, grandfather and brother who enjoyed Mushroom hunting, fishing, and football, especially the KC Chiefs. He had been a member of the Gospel Light House. Mack was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jimmy Short and two sisters, Hazel Turner and Veda Valdepena. He is survived by two daughters, Samantha Sullivan and husband, Chris and Rebecca Cambers and husband Kress. Four brothers, Jewel L. Short, Tommy L. Short, Lowell G. Short and John V. Short. One sister, Vera Bullard. Three grandchildren, Taylor, Lindsey and Christopher Sullivan all of Independence, MO.
