Jerry Shrout

Jerry Shrout, 70, of Buckner, MO passed away on May 16, 2017. Visitation will be from 2-4pm Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Speaks Buckner Chapel. Memorial services will follow at 4pm at the chapel. Jerry was born on January 2, 1947 in Independence, MO and was a lifelong Buckner resident. He graduated from Fort Osage High School class of 1965. After high school, he went to work for Lyons Die Casting where he remained for the next 35 years, and retired as plant manager. After retiring from Lyons, he worked for the City of Buckner for several years. Jerry loved his community and was very active in many civic endeavors including: the Buckner Board of Alderman for 12 years; the Lewis & Clark Trail Days announcing for the parade for over 30 years; the Fort Osage Fire Protection District Board of Directors; and the Fort Osage & Missouri Jaycee’s. He loved traveling on his motorcycle with his wife. Together they enjoyed several trips to Sturgis, and even rode the Dragon’s Tail in TN. Jerry was devoted to his family and, they to him. He was greatly loved and will be missed by his entire family and the community. Survivors include: his loving wife of 48 years, Pam (Singleton) Shrout; son Jared Shrout and his wife Gaylynn; daughter Malissa Shrout; son Aaron Shrout; granddaughter Jess Shrout; grandson Jonathan Shrout; brother Donnie Smith; sister Tina Rushton; a large extended family and many friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, mother Jewell Jean Smith, and brother Tom Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans in his memory.
