Mary Ella Shubkagel (Ross)

Mary Shubkagel, 72, of Independence, MO passed away May 14, 2020. Visitation will be 9-10am Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 10am at the chapel. Burial will take place in Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery. Mary was born on October 13, 1947, one of 3 children born to Alfred and Violet (Crooks) Ross in Kansas City, Kansas. 50 years ago, she married the love of her life Charles Shubkagel. To this union 2 children were born, Valerie and Sam. For several years Mary worked as a Private Home Health Aide in the area. Mary enjoyed taking family vacations, especially reading all of history related to their destination. Mary was huge fan of the KC Royals and KC Chiefs. She enjoyed watching all of the games. She also spent her time reading history, sewing, mystery and law shows on T.V. He biggest joy in life was her grandchildren. She was very proud of her grandchildren and loved them dearly. Mary was greatly loved and will be forever missed. Survivors include; husband Charles Shubkagel, daughter Valerie Shubkagel; son Sam Shubkagle; daughter in law Sarah Shubkagel; grandson Jacob Shubkagel; granddaughters Gabrielle and Elizabeth Shubkagel; sister Debra Ross; extended family and friends. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, brother Jerry Barksdale and sister Jeannie Apple.
