Norma “Deanie” Shull, 92, of Independence, MO passed away January 18, 2020. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. followed by a 2:00 p.m. memorial service on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at New Hope Baptist Church, 18000 E. Lexington Rd, Independence, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Village: St. Mary’s Village Activities Department. Deanie was born December 1, 1927 in Butler, MO to Harold Dean and Mary Edith (Darden) Lyons. Deanie was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. As a young lady, she attended the First Baptist Church with her friend, Eileen, and in 1942 accepted Christ as her savior and was baptized. She was most recently a member of First Assembly of God, Independence. She loved reading, gardening, cooking, sewing, crafting and playing with her pets. She learned to play the piano as a child, a talent she enjoyed well into her late 80’s. Deanie was a hard worker: birthing and raising five children, cooking three meals a day for a large family and keeping a tidy home - all while working part-time at Sears for several years. She loved her children and grandchildren and did many things to show each one of us how special we were to her. Even though dementia took its toll on Deanie the last several years, she never lost her special expression of God’s love that shined in her beautiful blue eyes and sweet smile. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband of 67 years, Eugene W. Shull. Norma is survived by her five children, James Shull (Cathy), Robert Shull (Brenda), Stephen Shull (Kathy), Mary Taylor (Robert), Lisa Passantino (Vincent); nine grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
