John D. Shull, 89, Independence, MO passed away Dec. 15, 2017. Funeral Mass will begin at noon Tuesday, Dec. 19 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 611 N Liberty St, Independence, MO 64050; interment at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, followed by the Rosary at 7:30 pm, Monday at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to NorthCare Hospice, 2800 Clay Edwards Drive, North Kansas City, MO 64116. John was born Sept. 15, 1928 in Independence, MO where he was the only boy and the youngest of six children. He graduated from William Chrisman High School and was a life-long resident. He was a truck driver and a member of Teamsters Local #41 for thirty-eight years. He retired from B.O.W. Express in 1985. He was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed being outdoors and worked to make his yard immaculate. John was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Shull. He is survived by children John Shull, Grain Valley, MO; Rev. Edward McCale and wife Edna, Hermitage, MO; Dennis McCale, Branson, MO; daughters Jean Liburdi and husband Mike, Scottsdale, AZ; Renee Biggs, Independence, MO; Rhonda Willburn and husband Terry, Tonganoxie, KS; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
