Denver Brandon Shutt
June 12, 1976 - December 30, 2021
Denver Brandon Shutt, a man’s man, a ladies’ man, and a man of God, decided to celebrate New Years a little early this year in Heaven, and passed away on Thursday, December 30th 2021. In his never ending pursuit to avoid being over taxed, he chose to call it early to ensure he never had to file a 2022 tax return…mission accomplished my brother, you ensured one of those things weren’t certain.
Denver had immaculate style and enjoyed the standards by Sinatra and Bennett. He also never lowered his standards when it came to quality whiskey and cigars. He did a great job of teaching his younger brother to never pair a black belt with brown shoes, along with numerous other fashion tips. Denver was incredibly charming, had amazing quick wit and was the most loyal friend a person could be blessed to have. He also exuded the definition of the word “dapper”: neat and trim in dress and appearance. Nobody did that better than him.
The women in Denver’s life took priority over all else. He loved his mom Melinda Griffle, who always made time for coffee with him and craved his style advice for her home. As her first born, Denver became the first grandchild for both sides of the family and this distinction made Melinda so incredibly proud. He adored his two sisters Nicole Serafine(38) and Brooke Griffle (24). If you have seen him in a picture with either one of them, his smile told you two things: first that he loved these two girls with every ounce of his soul and second there was no one more proud of being a big brother to them both. Denver also loved his three nieces fiercely. Sami Shutt (16), Kennedy Serafine (5), Ainsley Serafine (2) were the proud recipients of Denver’s amazing ability to give the most thoughtful gifts. He made sure to never miss a birthday or holiday for them and gave them gifts that they will cherish forever. Denver also had one and only sister-in-law, Angela Shutt (unable to disclose). They were always causing trouble, having a blast together and laughing like kids.
The men in Denver’s life also meant the world to him. He will be survived by his dad Doug Shutt whom he shared a home with. Denver was always there for his dad, loved him unconditionally and took great care of him up until the end. His dad will truly be lost without him but knows he is in Heaven watching over him. Denver was also blessed with a great stepdad, Greg Griffle. Greg was late to the party, but looked at Denver as a son and always treated him that way. Speaking of blessings, he will always be remembered by his younger, but much larger brother, Ryan Shutt (42). Writing Denver’s obituary was something he never dreamed of doing, but Ryan proudly took on the request, knowing Denver is watching with fondness and pride as he writes it. Denver also had a great brother-in-law Andy Serafine (41). Andy always enjoyed his time with Denver, despite the fact that Andy is suffering from the lifelong affliction of being a Cubs and Bears fan.
Finally, Denver is survived by The Dude…Hudson Joseph Serafine (born 1/13/22 to his sister Nicole). Initially it was sad to think that Denver missed Hudson coming into this world, but The Dude is keeping a little secret, he's already met his Uncle Denver. We firmly believe that Denver left this world early simply because he wanted to be the first one of us to meet Hudson and this was the only way he could manage to do that. Denver…we promise to take great care of Hudson and make sure he knows all about his amazing Uncle.
While Denver had many female suitors, only one woman truly ever stole his heart and that was his puppy Button. Button would wait patiently each day for “dad” to get off work and take her for a walk so they could make snarky comments about the people they encountered on their way. She is a fiercely loyal woman and to this day only has eyes and ears for her dad.
Denver hated spiders, but his irrational fear that his family would throw him a Spiderman-themed has been vetoed. His family will hold a service for friends and family free of any type of "theme." Visitation will be held at Speaks Funeral Home, 18020 E 39th Street S. Independence, Mo. 64055 on Friday, January 28, 2021 from 6-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to The Truman Medical Center in Denver’s honor. They performed his hip replacement and his gratitude to them continued well after he was discharged. Up until the great COVID of 2020, Denver donated his time to others in need at the hospital and would prefer money to go to the hospital versus some depressing flowers.
Denver will never be forgotten, and his family will proudly carry his memory with them until they are all reunited again in Heaven.
