Sidney Robert Potter, a dedicated mechanic who worked for TWA for 30 years, has sadly passed away at the age of 90. Sidney was born on August 4, 1932, in Latour, Missouri, and he entered into rest on June 27, 2023, in Independence, Missouri.
Sidney was an exceptional individual known for his punctuality. He believed that being on time meant arriving at least 30 minutes early and considered "late" anything less than that. This dedication and commitment mirrored his work ethic throughout his career as a mechanic for TWA, where he tirelessly served for three decades.
Beyond his professional life, Sidney led a life filled with varied interests and cherished moments with loved ones. He found joy in watching movies and reading books, particularly drawn to Westerns and literature focusing on military history. Accompanied by the melodies of "Old Country" tunes, Sidney would lose himself in captivating stories from these genres.
Family was of utmost importance to Sidney. He treasured every moment spent with his loved ones and cherished their bonds deeply. Sidney's family brought him immense happiness throughout his life. He is survived by Rick (Cheryl) Potter (son), Terrie (Roy) Taylor (daughter), Robert Potter (son), Todd Potter (grandson), Travis Potter (grandson), Austin Potter (grandson), John (Amanda) Taylor (grandson), Ashley Potter (granddaughter), Brandon Taylor (great-grandson), Sydney Potter (great-granddaughter), and Ryder Potter (great-grandson).
Sidney's legacy extends beyond the confines of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by Kenneth Potter (father), Carrie Bennett Potter (mother), Dollie Potter (first wife), and Anna Belle (second wife). Their memories will forever be held dear by those who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with them throughout their lives.
In addition to his notable career achievements and unwavering dedication to his family, Sidney also served his country as a Marine in the Korean war. His bravery and commitment to protecting his fellow countrymen will always be remembered.
The celebration of Sidney's life will be honored through several services. The visitation will be held on July 2, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Speaks Suburban Chapel located at 18020 East 39th St S, Independence, MO, 64055. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place at the same location from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Finally, a graveside service will be held on July 5, 2023, at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens located at 30000 Valor Dr., Grain Valley, MO, 64029. The graveside service will commence at 11:00 AM.
