James “JC” Silvey, 75, Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2011 after a short battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 13, 2011 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church; 3736 S. Lee’s Summit Rd, Independence, MO. Burial to follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at Carson-Speaks Chapel; 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Independence, with a rosary said at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
JC was born February 6, 1936 in Versailles, MO the son of Corbin Preston and Eula Gladys (McMillian) Silvey. He was employed with Mead Merchants (Zellerbach) retiring after 25 years. JC was a member of the St. Mark’s Catholic Church and was proud to have been baptized on the 35th anniversary of his marriage with his wife Shirley. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and especially going to Hawaii.
JC was preceded in death by two sisters; three brothers and his parents. Survivors include his loving wife Shirley of 37 years; son, Sam Silvey and wife Chris; daughter, Corbina “Corky” Rozzel and husband Glenn grandchildren, Amy Bax and husband Jeffrey, Steven Rozzel and wife Nicole, Jason Rozzel and Mike Silvey and fiancé Doris Cammisano; seven great grandchildren and two expected grandchildren; father-in-law; sisters-in-laws and brother-in-laws and additional nieces, nephews and family.
