Kathryn Frances Simmons, 74, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at her residence. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2018 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39thSt., Independence, MO 64055, followed by a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Forest Hill Cemetery. Donations may be made in her name to the Kansas City Public Library. Kathryn was born July 26, 1943 in Coffeyville, KS to Harold and Ruth (Maher) Wagner and spent her early life in Coffeyville where she graduated high school. She received a bachelor’s degree from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS. She moved to Kansas City in 1966 where she went to work for the Kansas City Public Library and worked there for 36 years until she retired as a manager in 2002. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, reading and water aerobics. She is survived by her loving husband, Terry of the home; a brother, Larry Wagner and wife Loise of Atlanta, GA; a brother-in-law, Woody Simmons of Kansas City, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
