Charles Lee Sims, 52, of Independence, MO passed away, Friday, September 12, 2014. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 19, 2014 at the New Hope Baptist Church 18000 E. Lexington Rd., Independence, MO 64058. Burial will follow in Six Mile Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 7 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the church. Donations may be made in his name to Missionaries, Jeff Bush and Phillip Tharp and may be sent c/o New Hope Baptist Church.
Charles was born August 9, 1962 in Independence, MO to Delbert and Phyllis (McDonald) Sims and has been a lifelong area resident. He had worked as a delivery driver for FedEx for almost 2 years. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and spending time with his family. He was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served in the bus ministry. Survivors include: his wife, Joyce of the home; 2 sons, Jason Sims and his wife Tiffany of Pleasant Hill, MO and Jonathan Sims and his wife Sarah of Blue Springs, MO; 4 grandchildren, Lillian, Kinsley, Naomi and Addison. 7 siblings, Jimmy, Billy, Delbert, Jr., Glenda, Cindy, Betty and Gwen.
