Martha Jean Sisk , 86, of Independence, MO, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2008 at St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City. Memorial Services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2008 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington, Independence, MO 64050. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 2-3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Salvation Army.
Martha was born July 21, 1922 in Sedalia, Mo to August and Leora Grotjan and grew up in Holden, MO. She had lived in Independence all of her adult life. Martha was united in marriage to William E. Sisk on February 14, 1943. Mrs. Sisk was active in the Independence Young Matrons for over 50 years and was a member of the Restored LDS Church. She is survived by her two sons, Randall Sisk and wife Sheila of Fairway, KS, and Allen Sisk of New York, NY; sister, Eleanor Beth Miller of Lynbrook, NY; and granddaughter, Vanessa Sisk of Philadelphia, PA. Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, William in 1994.
