Leonard Skaggs, Jr.

Leonard Louis Skaggs, Jr. 77, Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at his home.
Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2012 at Carson-Speaks Chapel; 1501 W. Lexington Ave, Independence, MO 64052. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post#1000.
Leonard was born May 13, 1934 in Kansas City, MO the son of Leonard Louis and Irene (Meier) Skaggs, Sr. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. Leonard retired from Armco Steel in 1982 and later moved to the Lake of the Ozarks for eight years with his loving wife Thomasena. Leonard was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #1000. He enjoyed playing craps at the casino, hunting and was well know for fishing at the lake.
Leonard was preceded in death by his brother Francis “Buck” Skaggs, and his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Thomasena Skaggs; son, Michael Louis Skaggs; daughter, Janet Summers; son Patrick Steven Skaggs, Sr. and wife Judy; grandchildren, Krista Sage, Michael Skaggs, Ryan Matthew Skaggs, Brandon Joseph Skaggs, Patrick Skaggs, Jr., and Toni Skaggs; and five great grandchildren.
