Monty lived his life for his wife, Virginia (Vaughan) Skelton. The two were childhood friends and continued on to 63 years of marriage. The two were blessed with one daughter, Cynthia, who then had three children of her own. Monty lived his precious life for the joy of seeing the ones he loved happy. He would light up the room with his bright eyed smile. The family speaks of him being the one to always say the family prayer at holiday meals, crack jokes to lighten the mood, but was always the one to cry at every family gathering. Monty retired from National Cash Register Company, and the Kansas City Star where he pioneered the telemarketing department and retired as a manager. He had the biggest heart and compassion for others pain. When Monty came into peoples lives, it was for the better. He was precious. He would never tell anyone no, he never was negative to anyone or anything. In fact, his motto in life was “Always keep a positive, mental attitude. With that you will go far.”
Monty loved his family which included his loving wife, Virginia Skelton; daughter, Cynthia Scheidt and husband Richard; grandchildren, Tamara Applequist and husband Jimmy, Justin Bryant and wife Tammy, and Heather Bryant; great grandchildren, Michael Klesath, Savannaha Applequist, Konner Bryant, and McKenna Bryant; brother, James Wykoff and wife Pam; special and caring niece, Bernita Bush, additional nieces, nephews and host of friends along with his maltese dog Champ. There is no denying Monty walked, talked, and smiled with the Lord. Their relationship beamed off his face. The same glow the night the Lord carried him into his arms. Monty smiled and grinned as the family sat around him and listened to the song “Going Home.” Monty’s memories and presence will always be within his family while his soul rests in peace.
