David Lyle Skinner, 80, of Independence, Missouri passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. David was born to Winfield and Jennie Skinner on January, 11, 1941 in Flint, Michigan.
Dave was a hard worker and loved his family fiercely. At a young age he met the love of his life, Hope. On June 6, 1972 they were married spent the next 50 years creating a life together. Dave was a proud Deputy Sherriff with the Jackson County Airwing for 33 years. He also dedicated much of his life to the United States Postal Service. He’d been there 47 years before retiring. When Dave wasn’t working he could be found judging bbq contests with his wife, deer hunting and leading young men through boyscouts. He was a proud member of the tribe of Mic-o-Say. David was a great man with a kind heart and will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Hope; sons, Jesse Skinner (Kristin) and David Skinner (Lynda Walker); daughter, Tamara Skinner (Dave); grandchildren, Phoebe, Logan and Levi Skinner; bonus grandchild, Hunter Walker; and great-grandchild, Meriam Behler.
David was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clinton Skinner and sister, Lyla Perry.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021 from 6-8pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri. Funeral service will be on Saturday, September 18th at 10am with burial to follow at Mound Grove Cemetery.
