Rose Mary Slanko (Payur)

Rose Mary Slanko, 87, Independence, MO passed away March 26, 2016. Mass will be at 10 am, Sat., April 2, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 10113 E. Lexington Ave, Independence, MO 64053; interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. The Rosary will be said at 5:30 pm Friday followed by visitation from 6-8 pm, at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to St. Ann’s Church. Rose was born Aug. 4, 1928 in Sugar Creek, MO and was a life- long resident of the area. She was a devoted long-time member of St. Ann’s Parrish and a member of the Altar Society for many years. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society in Independence and volunteered at the Fairmount Community Center. She was a caring, loving person who loved birds, flowers and children. Rose was preceded in death by her husband Andy Slanko. She is survived by daughters Suzanne Kirkham and companion Matt Dillon; Anna Lyon and husband Butch, all of Independence, MO; grandchildren John W. Kirkham and wife Stephanie, Blue Springs, MO; Robin Wagoner and husband Lanny, Oak Grove, MO; Ryan Kirkham and wife Gina, Independence, MO; great-grandchildren Haley, Alyssa, Nicholas and Tara.
