Karen Sloan

Karen Marie Sloan, 70, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Thursday, November 20, 2014. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, November 24th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 25th at Woods Chapel UMC; 4725 NE Lakewood Way, Lee’s Summit, MO. Cremation will follow. Karen was born April 8, 1944 in Savannah, NY to Lawrence and Bernice Hall as one of three children. She graduated from nursing school in New York and devoted 44 years to caring for the sick, working in numerous doctors’ offices, hospitals, and emergency rooms. Karen was active and social enjoying numerous bridge groups, shopping, tennis, beach excursions, and the view of any ocean. Karen moved to Missouri five years ago and has since been devoted to her granddaughters, an active volunteer and member at Woods Chapel UMC, and made many new friends. She is remembered as fun loving yet deeply respected by her co-workers, and selflessly passionate for caring for others. Her friendship was enjoyed by many. She is loved and will be missed. Karen leaves behind her daughter, Kimberly Coonce and husband Richard of Lee’s Summit, MO; granddaughters, Katherine and Kelly; brothers, Barrey Hall and wife Pat of Hurdle Mills, NC; and Edward Hall; mother, Bernice Hall; near and dear friends, Diane, “KQ”, Kim, and Dreama of the east coast; Sharon and Ann of her Lee’s Summit community; and numerous other dear friends and family members. She was preceded in death by her father. The family encourages contributions to Woods Chapel UMC in her memory.
