Velva I. Smelser

Velva I. Smelser, 88, of Independence, MO passed away, Monday, September 27, 2004 at the Rosewood Health Center. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 1, at Mound Grove Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Community of Christ Temple Fund. Velva was born on February 16, 1916 in Chicago, IL to William and Blanche Trowbridge. Whether at church or in her home, Velva�s loving and gracious smile welcomed everyone as family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Herbert Wayne Smelser; and grandchild, John Thomas Weigand. Velva is survived by her three children, Donald Wayne Smelser of Aiken, SC, Robert Wayne Smelser of Kerrville, TX and Janet Ruth Weigand of Parkville, MO; 6 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
