Steven Anthony "Steve" Smirnes

Steven Anthony “Steve” Smirnes of Kansas City, Missouri passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 18, 2023. He was 55. Steve was born to Henry and Allie (Lemons) Smirnes on December 11, 1967 in Harrisburg, Illinois.

Steve lived most of his life in the Kansas City area. After graduating from Polo High School he worked in the beauty industry for many years before opening The Spa on Penn in Westport in 2014. Steve had a fun, witty personality and would quickly light up a room. He loved his friends and family fiercely and was the life of the party. Though passionate about his career, when Steve was able to get away he spent much of his time traveling & looking for adventure. He never took a day for granted and will be missed beyond measure.

Steve is survived by his mother, Allie McGary and stepfather, Wayne; beloved sister, Lisa McGill and brother in law Ryan; step siblings, Brooke McDonald and Raymond McGary (Cyndi); nephews, Johnathan Weisgerber (Ashley), Tyler McGill (Kathryn); 5 great nieces, 1 great nephew and his furry friend, his cat, Luigi. He is preceded in death by his father, Henry Smirnes; grandparents and beloved cat, Picasso.
