Bruce W. Smith, 61, of Independence, MO passed away February 29, 2008 at Menorah Medical Center, Overland Park, KS. Bruce was born on August 20, 1946 and was a lifelong resident of Independence. He was a floor installer until 1990 when he became the owner and operator of Intercity Bait and Tackle for 10 years. He loved to hunt, fish, golf, and bowled at Sterling Bowl for over 30 years. Bruce’s greatest passion was his family, especially being a PaPa to his two grandsons, Bryce and Jayden. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floy and John Collins, and Clyde Smith. Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Terri Smith, of the home; one daughter, Nikki (Smith) Richardson; grandsons, Bryce and Jayden Richardson of Independence, MO; one sister, Kathy Parrish and husband Sam; two brothers, Skip Smith and wife Grace and Frank Smith; along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and many, many friends. Bruce never knew a stranger and will be truly missed by all who knew him. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington, Independence, MO. Services at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, at the chapel, with burial to follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery.
