Daniel Faison Smith, 30 of Houston, TX, and formerly of Blue Springs, MO passed away Sunday, November 10, 2013 at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with services immediately following at 12:00 pm on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Donations may be made in his name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Children’s Mercy Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Clinic. Daniel was born September 25, 1983 in Independence, MO to Paul and Michelle (Carr) Smith. He grew up in Blue Springs and graduated from Blue Springs North High School in 2002. He later became a licensed pharmacist’s technician. He enjoyed music, playing his bass guitar, playing golf, photography, cooking, was an avid fan of Formula One Racing, the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. Beyond all these, he enjoyed spending time with his family and his many friends. He was a man of strong faith and had attended Faith Covenant Church in Blue Springs and Second Baptist Church in Houston. He is survived by the love of his life, Claudia Zepeda; his father, Paul Smith and his wife Kathye; his mother Michelle Hughes and her husband Robin; siblings, Brian, Alexandria, Serena, Jacob and Cameron; Barbara Smith; his grandparents, John and Lea Carr and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
