Dorothy Pearl Smith

Dorothy Pearl Smith, 86, of Raytown passed away Wednesday, Jan 25, 2006 at St. Mary�s Medical Center in Blue Springs. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2006 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Visitation will be from 1 - 2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial in Brooking Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to Children�s Mercy Hospital. Mrs. Smith was born on Sep 8, 1919, to James and Mary (Dukes) Walker in Kansas City, MO. She had previously been an elevator operator at the Scarett Building. She and her sister also operated a concession at Jackson County Hospital for several years. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who enjoyed collecting ceramic blue birds and going to the boats. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford P. Smith, in 1998, a son, Harry "Bud� Smith, in 2004 and three sisters. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Albert and Charlene Smith of Blue Springs, MO. Three grandchildren, Cynthia Leitich Smith, of Austin, TX, Stacy E. Cohen, Lawrence, KS and David P. Gillispie of Raytown, MO. Two great grandchildren, Abigail and Alexander Cohen.
