Frances K. Smith

Frances Katherine Smith, 89, Independence, MO, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2004, at the Regency Care Center. Services will be at 1:30 pm Monday at George C. Carson & Sons Funeral Home; burial in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8:00 pm Sunday at the Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to the Summit Grove Community of Christ. Mrs. Frances Smith was born February 8, 1915, in Lindsborg KS, to Cornelius Wm. and Gertrude E. Waldron. She had lived in the Independence area since 1960. She had attended the Jane Hayes Gates Finishing School for Girls. She married LeRoy Z. Smith Sr. in 1931. Frances had been a Campfire Girl leader and a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was a former member of the Spring Branch Community of Christ congregation, and more recently had attended the Summit Grove congregation. Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, LeRoy, in 1991. She is survived by her three children, Leroy Z. Smith, Jr. and his wife Dolores, Independence MO, Carol Ann Smith, Independence, and Tom Smith and wife Evelyn, St. Peters, MO; 8 grandchildren; her sister, Pauline Segi and husband Bob, Golden City, MO; many nieces and nephews; and other loving relatives and friends.
